Being a first time mum, and caring for an infant, can be stressful and exhausting. It is evident you need a break.
Talk to your husband. Explain how tired you feel, how a break would be welcome. Ask him how and when he can help?
There are chances he will say have a maid, or invite parents from either side to visit. So that they are around to help.
If he says these things, thank him for the inputs. However, tell him you will feel more comfortable and less stressed when you know he is taking care of the child. Ask him to take over for a couple of hours.
Once he gets used to handling the child, and is comfortable, you can take longer breaks.
Maybe he is not helping because he does not know what to do. Maybe he is apprehensive about handling a small child. If so encourage him to help change diapers, rock the infant to sleep, play when he/she is awake, etc. With you guiding him. This way he learns that he can handle the baby.
Remember in relationships, demands generally do not work. Requests have more chances of working.
